ArcelorMittal's Coatesville facility is a steel plate production facility located in Coatesville, Pa., approximately 40 miles west of Philadelphia.  This strategic location in eastern Pennsylvania allows for excellent highway and railroad shipping access.  The plant produces steel from scrap in an electric arc furnace and is capable of producing approximately 900,000 tons of raw steel annually.  The plant also operates ingot teeming facilities, a slab caster, two plate mills and heat-treating facilities.  The Coatesville facility refines more than 450 different steel chemistries and, together with the Conshohocken facility, produces some of the widest, thickest and heaviest steel plates in the industry.

The Coatesville plant has stood on its site since 1810 and has been continually modernized with some of the latest steel production technology.  It was formerly part of Bethlehem Steel Corporation.

Commodity plate is made at this location, along with carbon, high-strength low-alloy, commercial alloy, military alloy, clad and flame-cut plate products.  The construction, machinery, rail transportation, automotive, military, shipbuilding and aircraft and aerospace markets are a few markets served by this location.

Coatesville Products and Facilities

Principal production facilities:                 Electric arc furnace, vacuum degasser, ingot teeming, slab caster, two plate mills, heat treating and finishing

Other facilities/services offered: Rolling of slabs provided by conversion customers.  Heat-treating, annealing, blasting and pickling services are also available.  Metals converted/processed include stainless steel and nickel, copper and titanium alloys.

Products made: Steel plate -- carbon, high strength low alloy (HSLA), commercial alloy, military alloy, clad, and flamecut products
